st lucia holidays
St. Lucia is a small Caribbean island in the middle of the Lesser Antilles chain, to the northwest of Barbados. It is a volcanic island at its core, St. Lucia is far more mountain-heavy than many other Caribbean islands. Mount Gimie is the highest peak, at over 3,000 feet above sea level.

The climate overall is tropical, as is typical for the region. The inner volcanic peaks are offset by craters and older volcanic rock areas that have worn down over the ages. The mix means there is a healthy variation between coastal zones, midlands, highlands, and mountains in the country. This presents excellent opportunities for active holidaymakers.
Of course, mountaineering, rappelling, and related activities are quite popular at one of the many peaks and dormant volcanoes – just avoid the active ones in the south! Zip lining, bungee jumping, and other extreme activities are also available, especially in and around Mount Gimie, and the twin peak Pitons, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The forested areas include rainforest, great for hiking and exploration. Many boating adventures are also available, as well as a drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs.
For the more historically minded, Fort Rodney, on Pigeon Island National Park, offers a reconstructed old-style British military base. St. Lucia Botanical Gardens are also popular for a more relaxed and calm walking experience, with a wide variety of representative plant species from the island, as well as a sulphur waterfall.
