Iguazu Falls is a must see, as it is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Located in the northeast of Argentina it's part of Iguazu National Park, offering numerous hiking and walking trails to see the natural beauty of the region, including hundreds of animal species and thousands of plant species you won’t see anywhere else.
The stunning Los Glaciares National Park is home to the Southern Pategonian Icefield which is one of most popular and scenic places for trekking in Argentina. This UNESCO World Heritage Site contains over 40 glaciers, the most famous being the Periot Moreno Glacier.
The most popular city for tourism in Argentina is Buenos Aires, which is both the capital and the largest city. Here, you’ll find a wealth of history, architecture, cultural sites, museums, churches, and other landmarks dating back hundreds of years. Plaza Dorrego in the San Telmo section is great to browse on Sundays, hosting antiques fair, and has daily tango shows and lessons for tourists. The Recoleta area features museums, libraries, cultural centres, and the can’t-miss Cementerio de la Recoleta, resting place of the late beloved Eva Peron.
For active holidays, one of the best cities to visit is Bariloche, the capital of the southern lakes region. No matter what time of year, Bariloche is a mecca of sports and adventure, from skiing and winter sports to water sports, fishing, windsurfing, boat tours, and more. Cerro Catedral is known as one of the premiere ski centres in all of South America.
Camping and hiking are extremely popular, as is horseback and trail riding. In summer, scuba diving and swimming amongst the many lakes in the region are popular activities.
